Prolotherapy & Regenerative Injection Therapy
PROLOTHERAPY
Prolotherapy involves the treatment of tendons and ligaments. Once these structures are injured, the immune system is stimulated to repair the area, however, because ligaments and tendons generally have a poor blood supply, incomplete healing is common after an injury. This results in these strong, taut bands of connective tissue becoming relaxed and weak, which then becomes a source of chronic pain and weakness.
The basic mechanism of Prolotherapy is simple. A substance is injected into the affected ligaments or tendons, which leads to local inflammation. The localized inflammation triggers a wound healing cascade, resulting in the deposition of new collagen, the material that ligaments and tendons are made of. New collagen shrinks as it matures, thereby tightening the ligament that was injected and makes it up to 40% stronger than normal tissue! Prolotherapy can completely rehabilitate areas of pain and dysfunction and has an 85-90% success rate.
Therapeutic Uses for Prolotherapy
- DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE - pain reduction and reversal of degeneration
- ARTHRITIS - pain reduction and reversal of degeneration
- ATHLETIC INJURIES
- JOINT PAIN - back, neck, carpel tunnel syndrome, knees, hips, etc.
- HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES
- FIBROMYALGIA
- SCIATICA
- ANY UNRESOLVED INJURY, FRACTURE, INFLAMMATION, SURGERY, DISLOCATION, ETC.
NEURAL THERAPY
Neural therapy involves the injection of anesthetic and/or homeopathic agents into nerve sites, scar tissue, acupuncture points, and muscular trigger points to relieve pain and dysfunction. These agents help to balance the autonomic nervous system (ANS) that controls our unconscious bodily functions such as breathing, digestion, blood flow etc. When the nerve flow of the ANS is interfered with, then the regulation of the body is compromised and can result in pain, disability and disease.
Any stress on the body will activate the nervous system, thus creating a "fight or flight" response that occurs as the result of a car accident, surgery, emotional distress or injury etc. In a natural healing response, once the stress is removed, the nervous system will reset itself. Unfortunately, in our stressful world, our bodies don't always get the chance to return itself to normal and the problem area can become locked into a constant stress or "freeze" state. This area becomes a disturbance field and can persist for many years causing pain and improper function. A good example of this would be a whiplash injury where the trauma stays with the person even 10 years later causing headaches, no matter how many massages or chiropractic adjustments are done.
How does Neural Therapy work? The injected anesthetic will cause a nerve to be numbed by changing the positive and negative charges on the membrane and change its potential temporarily to reset the nerve. If the potential is imbalanced the nerve is more easily stimulated by stress and substances like inflammatory compounds and cause pain. It is like a computer that freezes up when it is overloaded with too many programs running. Usually, you need to shut the computer down, reboot the computer and then it works fine again. Neural Therapy is like rebooting the "body's computer" to reset the nerves and restore function and relieve pain.
Therapeutic Uses for Neural Therapy
- PAIN AND INJURY - whiplash, athletic injuries, muscle pain, TMJ syndrome, back pain, etc.
- HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES
- HYPOTHYROIDISM
- SCARS - can either be painful or cause adhesions that cause decrease function in area due to lowered blood and nerve flow (scars can be treated no matter how old it is)
MESOTHERAPY
- Mesosculpting - is a procedure used for weight loss and body sculpting to reduce, eliminate and contour specific undesired fat pockets. This method targets the receptors that produce lipogenesis (fat production) and lipolysis (fat breakdown). The doctor will inject a formula of into the skin which slowly diffuses into the fat and breaks it down. This technique is especially useful for fat pads that won't go away with diet and exercise (eg. saddlebags or tummy pooch) and for lipomas (benign tumors of fat under the skin).
- MesoGlow - is a safe and natural approach to treatment of sun damaged or aging skin on the face and neck. Between sun damage and progressive collagen loss, the skin loses its plumpness and resiliency. The MesoGlow treatment rejuvenates the skin by infusing the dermis layer under the skin with anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. This will promote production of collagen and elastin and will stimulate the metabolism. People who have had MesoGlow often describe their skin as looking rested, firm, radiant, and "glowing". MesoGlow treatment is an excellent complement to other skin treatments and products.
- Subcision for Cellulite - your skin is tied to your muscles and deeper tissues by small bands of tissue called dermal ligaments. When fat is deposited under the skin, it can push the skin upwards and when these dermal ligaments cannot stretch where they are attached it causes the appearance of cellulite. The random pattern of the ligaments creates the characteristic irregular patterns of cellulite. Subcision can help cellulite by cutting the ligaments tying the skin down. After the skin is released the skin rebounds and the dimpling is improved.
